Three barriers we check for in Prestige stores

These are patterns commonly raised in website accessibility complaints about stores built on themes like Prestige. Whether your store has them depends on your theme version, your edits and your apps, so we confirm each one in a free theme scan before anything is fixed. File names below are typical locations and vary by version.

  1. Barrier 1 of 3

Color swatches identified only by color

    Representative allegation

Color options were conveyed only visually, so the plaintiff could not tell which color was selected or what the choices were.

WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color, 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value

    Typical location: snippets/product-swatch.liquid

    How a plaintiff tests it

Move through the swatches with a screen reader and listen for the color name and a selected state.

    How we fix it

Give each swatch a text name and expose the selected state, with a group label for the set.

  2. Barrier 2 of 3

Cart drawer that opens without moving focus

    Representative allegation

Plaintiff activated the cart button but keyboard focus remained on the page behind the drawer.

WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order, 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap, 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value

    Typical location: snippets/cart-drawer.liquid

    How a plaintiff tests it

Open the cart by keyboard and check where focus lands, whether Tab stays inside, and whether Escape closes the drawer.

    How we fix it

Move focus into the drawer on open, contain Tab, close on Escape, and return focus to the cart button.

  3. Barrier 3 of 3

Size-guide and info modals without dialog semantics

    Representative allegation

The size guide opened visually but was not announced, and the plaintiff could not read or dismiss it with a keyboard.

WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value, 2.4.3 Focus Order

    Typical location: snippets/modal.liquid

    How a plaintiff tests it

Open the size guide with Enter and listen for a dialog announcement, then try to read and close it using only the keyboard.

    How we fix it

Mark the modal as a dialog with a name, manage focus in and out, and make the close control a real button with an accessible name.
